Cruelty-Free Beauty for Every-Bunny

You've probably seen cute bunny logos on personal care and household cleaning products with the claim, "Cruelty-Free." But do you know what these logos actually mean?
Many brands have crafted their own custom bunny logos (even us!) to fit their branding aesthetic. However, without third-party certification, it's hard for consumers to know which brands truly adhere to Cruelty-Free standards.
So, we need to look for companies that are certified to have met a list of cruelty-free standards, signed legal attestations, and submitted supporting documentation to ensure compliance.
Two main organizations handle Cruelty-Free certifications for cosmetics and personal care products: the PETA Beauty without Bunnies program and the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics' (CCIC) Leaping Bunny Program. Their official logos are as follows:

Pledge to Be Cruelty-Free | PETA
This first logo (PETA Cruelty-Free) means that the brand doesn't use any ingredients tested on animals OR test their final products on animals. This also means they don't commission third parties to test on animals.

PETA Beauty Without Bunnies - LivOliv Cosmetics
This second logo includes the "Vegan" claim—it's important to note that products can be formulated without testing on animals while still including ingredients derived from animals. This logo validates that the brand doesn't use animal-derived ingredients OR test on animals. BiotechBeauty has achieved this certification!

Look out for Leaping Bunnies - Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Asheville
The Leaping Bunny Approved logo also certifies that no part of the brand's supply chain is involved in animal testing. To receive this certification, brands must provide supporting documentation from their suppliers that validate that every aspect of production is free from animal testing—from sourcing to production to finished goods testing. The CCIC also conducts independent audits to ensure compliance.

BiotechBeauty is certified by the CCIC as Leaping Bunny Approved, and is certified by PETA as Cruelty-Free and Vegan! We've created high-performance makeup that improves your skin health over time with the help of biotech beauty ingredients, so we don’t ever compromise the health and safety of animals along the way.

Now, you know what to look for when shopping for certified Cruelty-Free products. Hop to it!
