Glass Skin Tips

Glass Skin Tips

If you’ve been keeping up with Vogue, you’ll know that Hailey Bieber’s glazed-doughnut, dewy skin look has taken over the skincare game for a while now. Originating from K-Beauty, glass skin is about achieving a healthy glow that resembles glass. K-Beauty is all about practices that improve your skin over time and fueling you with ingredients to keep your skin nourished. At BiotechBeauty®, this is what we love to hear because we are all about helping you become the healthier, hotter you. Glass skin may seem out of reach, especially for us acne-prone hotties, but think of it more as an act of self-care

Read to the end to see how our products are proven to improve your skin over time, backed by clinical trials.

Double Cleansing

Double cleansing is the act of using two separate cleansers on your skin. For certain skin types and lifestyles this can be an important step to give your skin the clean slate it deserves every day. When we load up on sunscreen and makeup at the beginning of the day, cleansing just once is not enough to clear our pores. If you have naturally oily skin and continue to struggle with acne, the solution might be adding a cleansing oil into your routine. This can be a helpful step in managing the overproduction of sebum , which clogs your pores and in turn makes you break out. Not only does double cleansing prevent breakouts, but it also allows for a better absorption of whatever you put on your skin afterwards since there won’t be anything to block those actives.

To double cleanse, use an oil-based cleanser to clear out makeup and leftover debris on your face. These are great because “like dissolves like”. Oil-based cleansers will grab onto the oil in your skin and effectively dissolve makeup, acting as the perfect first line of defense.

Next, go in with a water-based cleanser to clear out what lies beneath and ensure those active ingredients you finish off your routine with are actually penetrating your skin.

Double-cleansing is best to incorporate into your nighttime routine after a long day of grime build up. If you have dry skin, double cleansing in the morning might actually strip your skin of its natural oils. This may strip the moisture you need and break down your skin barrier.

Moisturize

Glass skin is all about moisture! Let’s make sure that we keep our skin plump and moisturized to achieve that luminous complexion. Moisturizers come in many different forms, so it’s important to choose the best for your skin type. Serums are better for oily skin as they are generally lighter so they won’t add on as much weight on top of your skin. Serums with ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, glycerin, ceramides are best to provide deep hydration for your skin. Hyaluronic acid and glycerin are humectants, meaning they help attract and hold water in the skin. Imagine if someone were to hold six gallon-sized water bottles from Costco in each hand! That’s how we can picture humectants. Ceramides are lipids which prevent water from leaving the skin. Since serums are lighter weight, be sure to seal them in with a moisturizer so we can reap all of their amazing benefits! Moisturizers are thicker and will trap the moisture and active ingredients into your skin.

Prevention is key! Always use Sunscreen

The core of K-Beauty and glass skin is to keep you and your skin healthy– that means protecting it from the sun with sunscreen. Make sure to end your morning skincare routine with SPF to protect against ultraviolet rays. UV rays damage your skin cells over time, decreasing the elasticity and drying your skin out, which can cause acne. If you need a little color, try out tinted sunscreen or see what sunscreen works best for you!
