Peptides in Skincare Have Actually Been Around 4Ever!

Peptides in Skincare Have Actually Been Around 4Ever!

By: Zayna Azimi

Peptides are the building blocks for many vital components of the skin like collagen and elastin that keep our skin looking healthy and hot! Read our blog here to learn more about the benefits of peptides and how they work (especially in our very own products!)

How It Started

Peptides have been around the block once or twice, first being utilized in skincare in the 1970s. In the 70s, scientist Lauren Pickart discovered copper peptides and isolated them for skincare use. She observed how they stimulated production of collagen and anti-inflammatory properties. However, the turning point for peptides was in the early 2000s when a few skincare companies started incorporating them into their products.

Scared, Skeptical, or Want to Learn More About Peptides?

We naturally have peptides in our bodies; however, these levels decline over time which is why they have become such an important ingredient in the anti-aging industry.

How It’s Going

Peptides will continue to be a big player in the skincare game. Thanks to their wide range of functions, including anti-inflammatory effects, anti-wrinkle properties, and skin renewal, they can be tailored to meet different skincare needs. And since peptides in skincare have been extensively researched for quite a long time, they're our go-to, science-backed addition to your routine (not to mention they have plenty of room for innovation– our fav!). There are already over thirty cosmetic peptides available with more on the way. Not to mention, peptides are a girl’s girl- she can work well with other ingredients like Vitamin C and niacinamide!
